Hidden Helix piercing

A hidden helix is pierced on the inner side of the rim, so the jewelry peeks out from beneath the fold rather than sitting on top of it. It's the placement for a dangle or a chain that seems to hang from nowhere.

It relies on a rim with enough of a curl to hide the post, so anatomy is checked before anything is marked.

Does a hidden helix piercing hurt?

Comparable to a helix. The angle is the tricky part, not the sensation.

Everyone feels piercings differently. Syd talks you through each step and never rushes — and a single-use hollow needle is far gentler than a piercing gun.

Jewelry

Pierced with an implant-grade titanium flat-back and a small gem end. Dangles and chain drapes are for after it has healed.

About the jewelry
Healing & aftercare

How long does a hidden helix piercing take to heal?

Expect 3–12 months. Clean it with sterile saline twice a day and otherwise leave it alone.

Full aftercare guide
  • Because it's tucked away, take extra care to rinse and dry it properly.
  • Avoid sleeping on that side and keep hair from wrapping around it.
  • Plan on a post downsize around 2–3 months, once the initial swelling has fully settled — a shorter post stops the jewelry from catching and tilting.

Hidden Helix piercing questions

How much is a hidden helix piercing?

A hidden helix is $45, which includes a selection of jewelry options. Upgrades start at $5.

Can I start with a dangle or chain in a hidden helix?

It's best to heal with a simple flat-back. Hanging jewelry moves and tugs, which irritates a fresh piercing — the dangle goes in once it's healed.
