Rook piercing
The rook is pierced vertically through the fold between the inner and outer ear. It's a detail placement — a small curved bar or ring that adds depth to the upper ear.
Not every ear has a pronounced enough ridge. Syd checks first and will suggest an alternative if a rook won't sit well on yours.
- Price
- $45
- Healing time
- 3–12 months
- Pain
- Moderate to high
Does a rook piercing hurt?
The ridge is thick, so expect firm pressure for a second or two.
Everyone feels piercings differently. Syd talks you through each step and never rushes — and a single-use hollow needle is far gentler than a piercing gun.

Expect 3–12 months. Clean it with sterile saline twice a day and otherwise leave it alone.
Full aftercare guide- It's tucked in, so it's fairly protected — but still avoid sleeping on it.
- Let saline do the work; don't push the bar back and forth.
- Rinse away shampoo and conditioner thoroughly.
Rook piercing questions
How much is a rook piercing?
A rook piercing is $45, which includes a selection of jewelry options. Upgrades start at $5.
What's the difference between a rook and a daith?
They're neighbors. The daith is the lower, innermost fold just above the ear canal; the rook is the ridge above it, between the inner and outer ear.
