Vertical Helix piercing
A vertical helix is a single curved bar set upright through the top of the rim, so one piercing shows two gems — one above the fold and one below.
It needs a rim with enough of a curl to hold the bar comfortably. Syd checks your anatomy first and will tell you honestly whether your ear suits it.

- 3–12 months
- Pain
- Moderate
Does a vertical helix piercing hurt?
Similar to a standard helix, with a touch more pressure as the bar passes through.
Everyone feels piercings differently. Syd talks you through each step and never rushes — and a single-use hollow needle is far gentler than a piercing gun.

How long does a vertical helix piercing take to heal?
Expect 3–12 months. Clean it with sterile saline twice a day and otherwise leave it alone.
Full aftercare guide- It sits right where hats, beanies and headphones rest — keep pressure off it.
- Avoid sleeping on that side.
- Don't twist or slide the bar when cleaning; saline and a gentle pat dry are enough.
Vertical Helix piercing questions
How much is a vertical helix piercing?
A vertical helix is $40, which includes a selection of jewelry options. Upgrades start at $5.
Does everyone have the anatomy for a vertical helix?
No. It depends on how pronounced the fold of your rim is. If your ear isn't a good fit, Syd will suggest a placement that gives a similar look.
